Aaron
(Wheelz)
Fotheringham

Aaron ‘Wheelz’ Fotheringham is a professional WCMX – (Wheelchair Motocross) rider from Las Vegas, Nevada.

Born with Spina Bifida, a birth defect of the spinal cord, Aaron was left with limited use of his legs. Despite his physical struggles, at an early age he seemed to be able to find ways to adapt and overcome any obstacle that came his way. Early on Aaron used a “walker” and then crutches to get around, eventually at the age of 8 years old he started using a wheelchair full-time.

Aaron’s first real experience at a skatepark was in December of 2000 when his Dad and older brother Brian helped him to the top of a quarter pipe at their local skatepark. After some trial and error 8 year old Aaron rolled away from his first drop into a ramp and it was at that moment he was hooked. Where most people see a wheelchair as a limitation – to Aaron it meant freedom.

Aaron enjoys showing people of all ages that having a disability and using a wheelchair is not a restriction but rather – an opportunity. He loves helping kids see their wheelchair in a new light – usually by teaching them a trick or two.

His love and slight obsession for his wheelchair has led him to start building his own. Passionate about innovating and customizing each one, he continues to shift the way people think about wheelchairs.
